Event Invite Nov 17: End Alcohol and Drug Use Devastation

Empowering Black Families to Take Action

CAfRIC nov 17 eventCAfRIC International is inviting us to the “End Alcohol and Drug Use Devastation” talk that is aimed at equipping Black families to learn and take action.

This is an adult only free event to be held on Saturday November 17th but those interested must register and obtain tickets by Nov 15, 2018 at https://cafric.eventbrite.ca. The talk will take place at 1520 Royal York Road, Etobicoke, ON M9P 3B5 (10 mins Bus #73 from Royal York Subway Station); from 4 pm – 10:30 pm (time will be strictly observed).

The agenda includes learning how to identify risks, prevent occurrences, and access treatment for problematic alcohol and drug use. Another session deals with learning how to advocate for yourself if involved with child welfare or custody issues, raising a child with special needs or experiencing abuse or domestic violence.

Let’s take full advantage and purpose to attend this talk that has been tailored to identified needs within our families.  Presenters include Irene Njoroge, an addiction nurse clinician & educator and Nancy Wangui who is a mental health and child welfare social worker.  There will also be a Q & A session for participants to ask questions anonymously and get answers from a panel of experts.
