Janet Mbugua funeral & appreciation

Janet MbuguaOn behalf of the family and friends of Janet Mbugua, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to our communities in BC, Victoria, Alberta, Ontario & Seattle for responding with such love and generosity.

Janet passed away suddenly in the plane on her way to Vancouver from a three-week visit to Kenya. The plane was diverted to Edmonton so she could receive medical care, but unfortunately she was pronounced dead on arrival at the Leduc Community Hospital. Her body has been in Edmonton for the last two weeks as we have scrambled to raise funds to help her children bring their mother to Kenya to her final resting place.

Our community rallied together both at the memorial service held on February 5, 2016 and on the ‘Go Fund Me’ campaign to raise funds to help with Janet’s repatriation.

With these funds, we have been able to pay the Funeral Home services as well as cover the shipping expenses to fly our beloved Janet back home. Her body leaves Edmonton on Tuesday, Feb 16, 2016 and arrives in Nairobi on Thursday, Feb 18, 2016. Ann Muthee (Mama Miano) will be traveling to Kenya to represent our family & friends as well as provide support to Janet’s children. Please continue to uphold them in prayer.

As per her family, there will be a memorial service to be held in Jericho on Friday, Feb 19, 2016 and then a funeral service in Murang’a on Monday Feb 22, 2016. Janet will then be laid to rest next to her late husband at their farm in Mugoiri as was her wish.

There will be a memorial service organized by Janet’s church family at St. Matthew’s Church RC Parish (gymnasium) – 16079 88th Av Surrey on Feb. 20, 2016 at 10 AM. This is not a fundraiser – it will be a moment to remember Janet and pray for the family.

Your visits, phone calls, texts, meals, prayers, words of encouragement, hugs and thoughts have been comforting and we have felt HELD through this. Janet’s children: Catherine, Peter, Miriam, Penninah & Andrew have felt your love and they want you to know that they appreciate each one of you. May God bless you all in abundance.

Blessings,
Njoki Eve
