Mak’Obiero Yamo death announcement

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our dear friend, brother, and Kenyan community member Barrack Mak’Obiero Yamo, who left us after a long and courageous battle with illness here in Canada.

As we come to terms with this heartbreaking loss, the family and friends of Barrack are working to fulfill his final wish — to have his body laid to rest back home in Kenya, among his loved ones.

We are appealing to your kindness and generosity to help us raise funds so we can give Barrack a good send-off. No contribution is too small — every bit will go a long way toward making this possible. Please send your support via Interact to Rael Ochido Owino: barrackmakobeirosendoff@gmail.com.

A memorial service for Barrack will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, when the community can gather together to honour Barrack’s memory and support his family. Location: St. James Cathedral Centre Event Venue – Snell Hall. Address: 65 Church Street, Toronto, Ontario, from 12 pm to 2 pm. Barrack will be buried in Kenya at a later date.

We are deeply grateful for your prayers, compassion, and the support you are providing during this difficult time.

Revelations 21: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Thank you for your kindness and solidarity.

The Planning Committee.
