Collins Kipruto – Obituary
Passed away at home, peacefully in his sleep, on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at the age of 21.
Collins was born in Kenya on August 10, 2001 to Mary Chepkemoi Komen. After the death of his mother, Collins lived with his grandparents Abraham Kipchumba Komen and Jennifer Kipchumba Komen. In 2019 he immigrated to Canada with his adopted parents Benjamin Silgich and Ruth Komen. Once in Canada, Collins lived with his aunt Hellen Komen-Taabu, uncle Elijah Taabu and cousin Nigel Taabu.
Collins is survived by his sister Jael Chemutai in Kenya, and sisters Mercy Cheptou and Maureen Cherono and brother Michael Kipchirchir in Kitchener. He will be fondly remembered by his aunts Alice, Lydia, Monica, Abigael and Dorothy, uncle Moses, and cousins Brian, Fidel, Shirleen, Michelle, Olivia among many others.
Collins was a student at Waterloo Collegiate Institute and planned to attend Conestoga College in the fall.
Collins hearty laughter would lighten up a room. He was cheerful, hardworking, athletic and full of life. Collins was extremely resourceful, kind, and helpful to his neighbors and community members. He was involved in volunteering in his school, community and church.

Visitation and funeral
Collins family will receive relatives and friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023 and Friday, June 9, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener (519) 749-8467. Reception to follow Interment at Williamsburg Cemetery, 1541 Fischer Hallman Road, Kitchener, ON N2R 1P6.
Collins will be missed as he was a key cog in our family wheel.
