Lucy Njenga death and fundraising
Fundraising drive to repatriate our beloved Lucy Njenga's body to Kenya.
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Lucy
Njenga, of Edmonton, Alberta’ Lucy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of our community. As we mourn her loss, we are reaching out to ask for your support in repatriating her body to Kenya, her homeland, for a final resting place in accordance with her wishes.
Lucy passed away on September 9, 2024, while undergoing treatment at Grey Nuns Memorial Hospital-Edmonton.
Lucy was a remarkable woman who lived a life full of love, sacrifice, and strength. Born in Muranga District Koimbi Village, Kenya, she attended Kianderi Girls Boarding School, where she developed the resilience and discipline that would later define her life. She was a proud mother of three children, John Mbaria, Hilda Wangui, and Martin Waweru, whom she raised with unwavering dedication. Her love did not end with her children, as she also embraced the role of grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren—Zahara, Olivia, Darius, and Nyles—each of whom she adored and cherished.
Though life presented its share of challenges, Lucy always faced them with grace and an unshakeable faith. She immigrated to Canada several years ago, where she worked tirelessly to provide a better life for her family, all while maintaining deep connections with her roots in Kenya. Her dream was to one day return to her homeland for her eternal rest.
The process of repatriating a body is a complex and costly one, involving international transportation, legal procedures, and funeral expenses both here and in Kenya. Thank you for your compassion and support as we rally around this family in their time of grief and need. We are seeking to raise $25,000.00 to cover these costs and ensure that Lucy can be laid to rest in her homeland, as per her final wish.
Your contributions, no matter the amount, will help bring peace to her soul and closure to her grieving family. In this challenging time, we rely on the kindness and generosity of our community to help fulfill this sacred duty.
We kindly ask for any donation, large or small, to support this effort. You can contribute through the following methods listed below. Additionally, we would be deeply grateful if you could share this message with others who may want to contribute.
